This connection is about shutting up, not talking, keeping quiet. It's not too far fetched that there are a lot of songs about that topic. In general people tend to talk too much (including me) so finding songs about keeping quiet was very satisfying. Some of my favorites are on this list. Zappa suggests another activity, The Fall and The Stranglers just say no. Joe Dolce wants your whole face to keep quiet. Pearl Harbour wants you to dance, Joe Pop -O- Pie wants you to listen, Julie Brown wants you to kiss her, Consolidated wants you to play music and Ice-T via Jello Biafra wants you to be happy. All great suggestions! Negativland, who more people need to know, is asking nicely and the Buzzcocks just say it is annoying if you don't. All of them amuse me to no end. Enjoy them all!
