Keith Emerson Pick

Here's the last pick of the individual players of ELP. All superstars in their own right. Emerson known for his virtuoso moves on the keyboards tends to dominate the sound in ELP and most people are aware that he did the same in The Nice before he started ELP. I used the tracks where I think he shined on the keyboard. I did not use any of his soundtrack moments and he did have some good ones and barely anything Barrelhouse because I already posted a compilation of that, but obviously I had to have a couple since that does represent him so well. The rest are ELP tracks with the "most" Emerson on it according to me. Again, leave comments on where I fell short.

Greg Lake Pick

Obviously I had to skip a day or so, but continuing the picks for the individual members of ELP is Greg Lake. He's got probably the biggest "hit" out of the three with his Christmas song, but all are virtuoso's in their own right. His voice is so distinctive, whether it's solo or in ELP or in King Crimson, you can recognize it immediately. Less people talk about his superlative bass playing, but he is a master. This is the one place where there is a double, btw, between Palmer and Lake I had to use Karn Evil 9 1st Impression, pt. 2 for both guys. As you listen, you will understand why it is a highlight for both artists. A different Impression is best for Emerson however. Anyway, make sure you leave a comment on the tracks you think best exemplify Lake, but enjoy my pick nonetheless.

Carl Palmer Pick

I was lucky enough to hang out with Carl Palmer a few times. Nice guy and big ego (deservedly so). He is a great drummer. He's been in a couple of great bands with virtuoso's and has played with some cool people. This pick takes some of my favorite moments of mine about him. Solo and even going back pre-ELP. I through in a few guest spots where I think he shined and came up with this compilation of Palmer showing why he deserves to have such a big ego. If there are some moments of his that I skipped, make sure you mention them in the comments. Over the next couple of days, I will do the same for the E and the L. Notice that over the three CD's I repeat only one ELP track, once. I will continue after Groundhog's Day.

Emerson, Lake & Palmer Barrelhouse Pick

Emerson Lake & Palmer are known as a prog rock band, But Emerson was an accomplished piano player who loved Honky Tonk, Ragtime, Barrelhouse from the beginning. This pick goes from his beginnings in Nice, through his solo and ELP work to search for Barrelhouse piano and compile them for your pleasure. If you love this, but were never going to sift through their albums to find all of these tracks, you're welcome. If you always skipped over these tracks, just skip this whole compilation.
