Ministry Pick 2

Continuing from yesterday's Pick (and really the last several days) here is part two of Ministry. They were no longer a dance band, but rather an industrial metal band. And they had a great sense of humour hidden underneath all their bravado. Some of the covers they chose, the side projects, etc show some of that. But they also were serious. And political. They got me to start questioning more than any other band. I have always been a libertarian in many ways, but never looked that deeply into issues. I saw how W was manipulating data and facts and that led me to the realization that most politicians on both sides were tools. And in the meantime they had some killer music. Ultimately my research that they started led me to see that Trump was also a tool, but the best choice now to get rid of this infection. Not the solution to all the problems, but certainly not the one who was the cause of the problems. That was the deep state and the leftist marxists in government. Let me shut up about politics for now

Ministry Pick 1

I first heard the very early Ministry. Work For Love, Everyday Is Halloween. I liked the dance music. I would dance to it at the clubs where they played that stuff. Back then it was Thursday nights at the Cabaret. One of the only places in town where they would play New Wave. They had bands play live on Fridays and Saturdays. I MC'd the "Last Night Ever" for the Tubes twice (once there). But good handcuff music on Thursdays. Ministry did not play there. I saw them just about when their new album was coming out. At a new hip club. They promoted the show with the two aforementioned songs. That is not what they played. They played stuff from Twitch and The Land Of Rape And Honey! And much, much harder versions of their dance "hits". It was amazing! I saw them on so many tours and they got better and better. My daughter was still in the belly and she heard both Ministry and RevCo so much that later when she was born she would use them (and Blue Monday) as songs to go to sleep. Not to get political about it, but it was one of the reasons I changed my mind about the abortion issue. It was Ministry. I know they would be unhappy to know it. Sorry, man.

Best Of Julie Andrews (Ministry family pick) 2

Part two of the Alan (Alien) Jourgensen family pick. It's the same mixtape, so yes it still has Julie Andrews on the cover. But this time no songs of hers to cover. For a band like this, or a guy as prolific as Jourgensen it was difficult to get this down to just twenty something tracks. The dozen on this volume continue after yesterday's beginning with more Ministry and more side projects and guest spots. Look each up, because they all have way more to offer than these few picks. I do love the original version of the Olivia Newton-John song. Better than the released version.

Best Of Julie Andrews (Ministry family pick) 1

I know. Why did Julie Andrews appear on this at all? It's crazy, but sometimes I just made mixtapes that had covers nothing to do with the contents. This pick is one of them. Although it does have a version of  Favorite Things to keep some semblance of continuity even if it's only in my head. This is really Alien Jourgensen family pick. Which means, of course, automatically it has Ministry and Revolting Cocks on it. But also some other side projects of his. You'll find Cabaret Voltaire, Jello Biafra and Skinny Puppy hidden among these jewels. And one of my favorite alt country bands: Buck Satan. I did make two volumes of this. Side one and side two. And I later made just a Ministry pick. But for now, volume one of Alan (Alien) Jourgensen's family.
