All through out TV and movie land we've had fake bands appear. Some real bands have appeared as other band names. Some have included real musicians and some just as real studio musicians. I've liked many of them. Some were in movies and even cartoons "about" these bands. Look at the Archies, the Monkees, The Partridge Family, Josie and the Pussycats as examples of that. Others were started as one-off bands that played or were referred to as a side plot or background. I'm always interested when they have real songs that are pretty darn good and especially interested when they end up with real sales outside of the TV or movie medium. Spinal Tap a fake comedy documentary ended up touring as a real band! That's crazy! Anyway I made this pick of some of my favorite fake bands. When I finish part two, I promise that The Blues Brothers are on it, I will post it up as well. In the comments guess the source of each artist.
