This volume of story picks doesn't have very many songs. But they are long. This is my pick of rock stories. The full story of 2112 is enough of a story to capture anyone's heart and mind. But add classic stories of murder, love (or is it lust?), drunken fights and spooky hotels masquerading as a metaphor for cocaine abuse and you have a rock and roll classic. Not a single country song in the bunch. But today I am going to tell you a story about the title. Obviously it references how stories start, but is that it? Once Upon A Time is a phrase designed to suck you in. Anything that is said after that is instantly accepted by the brain. Your brain knows it is a story coming up next. There is no filter blocking right after. It is a brilliant way to convey information. Sales people use this technique often. A story can overcome objections in a painless way. You can keep them at an arm's distance while you deal with them fairly directly.
