This is an interesting side pick of 80's new wave. Some bands influenced by David Bowie and Roxy Music, etc became known as New Romantic bands. Some of it fashion, some of it the music. This is what I imagine it is. In reality several of these bands denied being part of the movement and several I didn't include who probably should have been in here (Culture Club, Marilyn, etc.) Most of these songs are new wave songs that were more slow and beautiful and "romantic" sounding. I don't care about the makeup, androgynous looks, pirate clothes etc. Here I am just going for a sound. Listen and you'll hear what I mean.
