Awesome Downtime 3

We've already had a couple of these Awesome Downtime playlists from George Glass (from Groovy Library) and I asked him to give me a little backstory. Here's what he wrote about his pick:

"I don't recall hearing the term "Downtime" until it came time to name the first comp. I just wanted to come up with something other than known genres (downtempo, chill, ambient, etc). How it started? During the mid 90s, I was exploring a lot of drum 'n' bass music. It became apparent in no time that it wasn't all just fast beats, but the ambience as well. And from there, it lead me to downtempo, chill, etc. A few year back, I started to create playlists for the bath, mainly with the music aforementioned. I didn't want the obligatory spa music, but melodic yet relaxing tunes not usually sleep inducing. And so in hindsight, you can find beauty in just about any style/genre of music. It's the patience in finding it. And that's the (very) condensed version."

  1. Thank you again Pol. Say, I have a little story for this one - the cover isn't all that random. Let's see...

Years ago in a music forum, someone posted several themes and wanted a list of tracks that would coincide to each example. One in particular was something like, "Driving in a city late at night/early morning, damp, misty or light rainfall." I posted Calibre's "Manchester Nights." Years later, that association has still stuck, hence the cover art.
