Leila & Judy

Not sure why, but the title reminded me of Lilo & Stitch, although it has nothing to do with it at all. Eno has an album called Another Green World (the song here is not from that album, however) and there is French band on this pick called the green black women. I wish they were still playing, because they were really great in concert. Anyway this has quite a bit of music from around the globe that shouldn't belong together (and it doesn't), but if you get to hear Hawkwind and Brian Eno and Les Negresses Verte on one compilation, it's worth it. Is it totally coincidence that all the songs are in the same key?

  1. Helno (Noël Rota), singer of les Négresses Vertes and former backing vocalist for French punk legends Lucrate Milk and Bérurier Noir, died of a heroin overdose on January 22 1993. The group, formed in 1987, soldiered on until 2001. Since then, they briefly reformed three times for one off gigs. They got that name because a bar bouncer urged them to leave the premises calling them this (they had their hair dyed green) oblivious of the fact they were all white ...

    1. They were a great band to see live. I remember meeting some French girls who were in the US to watch the band and so happy that they were able to go backstage with me to hang out. They were at the time saying that it was impossible to do so in France because they were so popular. They were just releasing their first few records here and playing small clubs!

    1. I played this for my wife as we were driving and she (somehow) had never heard that Hawkwind song. Watching her mind get blown as she was driving was interesting!
