There were a lot of ups and downs and a few loop the loops making this connection about coasters. Roller Coasters. I always liked riding them, but never really looked to see how many songs there were about them. Makes sense if you think about it. It can be a metaphor or just about the thrill of the ride itself. It wasn't a steep drop to come up with these songs. The first song that came to mind was the Ohio Players and soon after I thought of the 13th Floor Elevators. And after that they just kept coming.
