Webster Pick

This is my pick of the degenerate band from Canada: Max Webster (and their leader Kim Mitchell). Mitchell and the rest would never have come to my attention except for the blog site from George Glass that he calls Groovy Library. He has a bunch of playlists, like here, but from his twisted mind instead of mine. I like a bunch of the series he does. One thing is he seems to highlight quite a few bands from Canada. One of those bands that appears often is: Max Webster. I never heard of them before his site, but now here I am highlighting the band and Kim Mitchell. I'm kind of pissed off at George for getting me this involved in a rock band from Canada. They are actually quite good, they are a Rush favorite and apparently in Canada they were quite popular. I can hear why. Check out these tracks if you were like me and had no clue about them. My pick of their stuff. Includes the track they did with Rush. How could I have missed these guys? They played with Rush. And they are good. Did I say that already?

  1. Love MW! My one brother brought their debut album home one day (summer of '76) and asked me to check them out. He's seen them in concert backing "Rush" and said MW a better band. We cued up "Hangover" and I haven't looked back. They are still to this day, my all-time favorite Canadian rock band. With the exception of "Gravity" and "Let Go the Line" that you've included, my other ultimate favs not mentioned are "In Context of the Moon" (my #1), "Coming Off the Moon" (#2), "On the Road," "Distressed," "Toronto Tontos," "Rain Child," "The Party," "Oh! War," "Summer's Up," etc. Anyway, it's sad how it went down. They should have been much bigger, but the world preferred Rush.

    1. Well I must say that I love Rush, and it was only because of you bringing Max Webster to my attention. But I have been really enjoying this band. I probably don't appreciate them enough yet, so I will take your suggestions and listen closer to your faves. You haven't steered me wrong yet!

    2. I've been listening to another Canadian lately (Bachman) and may be putting together a pick in the next month or so.
