I was listening to some of these bands and thinking that I like these early rock songs that sound like the beginning of metal. Some were heavy and others not quite there and wondering if there were some tracks I could pick from contemporaries that weren't the ones I always turned to and make a mixtape. So a mix of "hits" and deeper album cuts but that made me feel the vibe I was going for. Listening to it in this order, I was struck by how cool it is. Hopefully you like it too. A couple of bands I repeated, just because I wanted to: The Who, The Easybeats, The Kinks. I thought about making this be all bands with names that start with "The", but I wanted to include a few songs that didn't fit the mold. Oh well. It's heavy enough.
