This is the perfect playlist for a trip to Las Vegas, including a couple of versions of the song Viva Las Vegas made famous by Elvis, but done by hundreds of people. Collins X Pick (Phil Collins in Brand X)

A couple of posts ago, you got some Phil Collins in various appearances. This time the pick is Brand X. A progressive Jazz Fusion band that for some time featured Phil Collins. Here is an introduction to the band Brand X, with Phil Collins. He was with the band throughout most of the later 70's (and appeared on some much later reunion tours). But the best stuff from the band, according to me, are the albums represented here of the late seventies. If you like these songs, definitely pick up the albums, as they are quite good. You will notice that the cover I designed has the five main album covers of Brand X where Collins played included as part of the design.

Beautiful Guitar Solos 4

The last (for a while) of the Beautiful Guitar solos picks. A couple on this volume were planned from the beginning, but a couple were added as I was releasing these originally. That's what happens when you comment and leave your favorites in the comments. I had already made a Guitars comp (loud shredding guitars), a Girls and Guitars pick. And Picks that featured Sax, Bass, Drums etc. All coming at one point or another. But I still always come back to these four. Play them at night or the morning when I want something beautiful played. I hope you listen to them as you get ready for bed (sleep or otherwise). They've been god to me. Phil Collins Pick

You could put this into a family pick, because it follows Phil Collins' appearances on various other band tracks. Obviously Genesis, Brand X and solo. Some he sings on, some he drums, but there is a Phil Collins feel to most of these songs. It may take you a couple of listens, but he's in there. This gets pretty diverse. I mean Adam Ant and Philip Bailey don't play the same kind of music as Camel and Eno. So, I think you will like the journey with Phil. Beautiful Guitar Solos 3

A continuation of the Beautiful Guitar Solos playlist pick. This third volume has a couple of tracks that were suggested by guitar playing friends, plus more Jimmy Page and Jimi Hendrix. I had already picked Pink Floyd, but several people seconded the tribute to Syd "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" to make that a must have track. These may not be the fastest, or loudest guitar solos, but they definitely are the most beautiful. See if you agree. There will be another volume coming, so look for that too. Acoustic Zep (Led Zeppelin's acoustic tracks)

Like the earlier Pretty Sabbath pick and the ELP Barrelhouse Ragtime pick this playlist takes a side of a band and highlights it. In this case it is the pretty, acoustic sounds of Led Zeppelin. Page, a master at guitar, is amazing acoustically. These tracks on this pick prove it. From almost every year and album there was a track you could play for your parents (to show it wasn't all noise). Things are not so different today. The music changes, but the dynamic between kids and parents and their choices of music doesn't change much. Our job as parents is to expose kids to a variety of music, so it isn't lost, but also to keep an open mind about the "noise" they listen to. You might not like the parental advice, but the playlist is great. So don't mind me and just listen.
