The title for this pick came from the juxtaposition of something being very important and hated. Not that any of these songs are hated, but just the idea that something could be, religiously, hated and revered at the same time. You don't see the two words used next to each other very often, so I liked that idea. I started with Brewer & Shipley and part of their lyrics of this song talks about marijuana in a generic sense and they talk about how it was a sacrament for them. That's what got me going on this tangent. The rest of the songs just fit within key mixing range. So it goes on the Camelot scale from 8A, 8B, 9A to 9B. The first track by Steve Miller and the last track by Billy Joel were recommended by a similar songs finder and the rest fell inbetween. I actually made several changes as I went along, ending with this mix of mostly rock and country hillbilly.
